    Inspiring!

This is some really magnificent work- that guy really got his money's worth!

He stands out so effectively, and looks so totally BRUTAL it's hard not to just study it for minutes in awe at hardcore he looks. The shading and inkwork gives him weight, the red is powerful, and brown fits, and the sword reminds me of Heavy Metal (this is a good).

The scratches and imperfections in the armor are used sparingly, but just enough to imply density; I like to point that out because I have a bad habit of not knowing when to stop with "battle damage", and it was used well in this. The pose is menacingly cool! The name in the background also knits in an effective way to memorize the name, and it doesn't try to stand out all campy-like...I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this as a pro comic-book cover.

The brown papery texture REALLY works well with it all, too. As a learning artist, I'd love to just pick your brain about this- What was the hardest thing to do about this artwork? How exactly did you manage to pull off that texture in the background and over the cape, and what's YOUR personal favorite detail?

    Great job! Fav'd and fived!

    dommi-fresh responds:

wow quite a review let me start by saying thank you its a poetic and and well put review. i am glad you like it.
firstly the back ground is just actually white cartridge paper but because of the paint and the way i edit my pictures i scanned it... it turns out brown and wavy but it is intentional.
and as for my favourite detail... i am not sure i usually pick out the bits i hate. but i have to say i am pleased with the outcome of his hands.

    I don't know why...

...but looking at this in full view just makes me smile. Maybe I have a chub for machinery, but...this is fantastic artwork. :D I love this! Fav'd and Fived!

    AssKiller responds:

    thanks a lot :) !

Damn, all on one layer!? Nice!

I'm really digging the orange with blue details. I'm also impressed with how the shading in the stripes and highlights of the fur against the moon create the illusion of fur. The only thing keeping it from being a perfect 10 from me is the claws being cut off by the border. It's cool for the tiger to dominate the picture, but you laid out some pretty interesting details in both the tiger and the clouds, and I think it would've given the entire artwork more justice if you got to see the entire tiger instead of just most of it.

Keep up the good work, despite the business!

    lenkalamari responds:

thanks. its funny you mentioned the claws, you could see the entire tiger at one point before i cropped it about halfway through painting

    Nice!

Looks really good...the sunlight streakes in the background look awesome (Dodge tool?). I like the black and white photo to help out details with the background, but if you drew that, I'm going to bust a nut. The shading on the sweater looks really well done; I'm liking the combination of cross-hatching with just solid dark gray, and the highlights on Hank's skin it appropriate. Well done all around!

But if hank has a line going across and down the middle of his face, that means if that line intersects the middle of his lip. Since he's sort of sneering, does that mean the middle of his hip would be off-center, therefore the line going down his lip would be slightly off-center as well before coming to the point that is near his chin?

Then again this has a great, distinct cartoon quality to it, and that kind of detail is really kinda unnecessary, I still want to debate with the artist on it. :P

    Great job! 5'd

    AlmightyHans responds:

i didnt draw the line on his face crooked to the lips cause i thought a cross distorte like that would look stupid.

    Looks great!

I see a little bit of Alloy influence with M-bot's stature...artwork is top-notch! My favorite detail being the shine of the metal torso on the bottom frame; kinda how you got that two-tone red light/white light on a blue body.

Hope you don't pussify the game for the weaker-ones like you did with Da Pink Knight. We need a challenge! :P

    MindChamber responds:

lol, I think we will find a good balance in terms of difficulty :D
and ya Mbot definitely has some alloy influence in him.!
    thanks for the review!

    Wow.

If this were straight-up monochrome on a black T-shirt, I would buy this in a heart-beat. It's got a really cool, look to it...and I just like it! You've got intense artistic talent, so never stop drawing. :D

    Windoff responds:

I will never stop drawing. I'm really love this all. xD Thanks)) About t-shirt - good idea=)

    Nice work!

The snow texture on the ground looks great, and flurry of snow-fall is blurred appropriately.

The Sorceress, err...let's call her "Tits" looks good for what's being done. I can dig everything; hair looks great, clothes, her pale, almost undead skin, it's just...look at her tits. They're huge, right? Now, one would guess they would hang like that...but only if her arms were down, right? So now you have her raising her arms hiiiigh above her head, and her tits are still in a kind of "down" position....which insinuates in my head, that when she lowers her arms, those tits would sag a bit, wouldn't they?

If it were me, I'd look for a busty chick with her arms raised in an angle similar to that, and make observations...especially if she's standing. (Studying has never been so fun. :P)

What really earned the five from me, though, was the sky. That sky (and water) looks like you spent a lot of time on this...looks great!

    Keep up the good work!

    tap5y responds:

Thank you for a very substantial review, come to think of it that is quite a good point... didn't rly think about it much while drawing :P I'll keep that in mind for further art ;)

And yeah, looking for references can be fun :D

An eye-ball bulge away from Ratfink...

But pretty funny! I like how you textured the hair, even giving little imperfect curl-ups around the back of the neck and front hairline. The wrinkly face is pretty appropriate when you take in consideration on how ancient Mickey Mouse really is...in only a few decades, he'll be a hundred years old.

I'm fascinated with how you got that smoke pattern down....I've been trying to draw smoke right for years in Photoshop, and I still don't quite have it right yet. The reflections in the ground only add to the artistic detail.

All in all, great job! Gratz on the frontpage!

    dimitrikozma responds:

    Thanks Phobotech!
Great detailed review! Very helpful! :-)

    Nice!

Joe Zombie were among the first things I ever watched here (besides Rockman Neo and Knox's Klaymations) It only got better and better as time went on.

I dunno if he'd flesh him out like this (away from stick figures, that is) but it would be one helluva improvement. The way how Joe's chilling in the bordered circle would make this an ideal shirt design...it wouldn't be hard either; slap it on the front of a green or black tee. "Newgrounds: Everything by Everyone" on the back, and, well...let's see if the creator has a site to throw on there...

    ...let's see....Rob-D. Hasn't done anything new since an '06 Joe Zombie submission...his website is....hahahaha! It's Explosm.net! I love Cyanide and Happ-...wait....

...Rob-D? One of the artist's name is Rob... Is the guy responsible for Joe Zombie the same guy responsible for the Explosm animations?

    ...Holy shit.

...Anyway, Joe Zombie has been a part of early Newgrounds history. It was an entertaining concept where the zombie was the protagonist, anti-hero, and I'd love to see more of it...especially in newer, rebooted monsterous detail like this. I'm sure Rob would be proud!

    MindChamber responds:

I never really put those together, but it makes sense, since the explosm animations seem to have the same pacing and style.

    I lol'd

You may want to fill the area to the right of him; his left hand closed off that area at his left waist leaving that part white...a simple eye-drop and paint-fill will fix that.

Regardless, good judgement on pencil-shading the blood and the face! I love dark, weird art, and I especially love Dexter's Laboratory.

    piggypup responds:

yeah, i noticed that after i had uplaoded it. Im too lazy to go back and fix it....oh well...

    thanks for the review, FAG!
