Pretty solid, dude. I've listened to it on loop several times, and the synthetic symphony sounds mostly flawless. The only part that I think wasn't up to par with everything else was that weird, very obviously synth piano at 1:20-1:26...in my personal opinion, the...how do I put this... "Nerfness" of the notes just kinda throw off that part.
But everything else? Hell, I was impressed with how the guitars actually successfully illustrated the armored space bounty hunter as something more awesome and action-packed then the original VG music she once represented. Like I said, I really like how the symphony orchestra instruments turned out. Not once did the drums stand out as programmed, either. I'd say that was a huge mission accomplished in keeping the whole thing balanced.
I was never a die hard fan for Samus except for in Smash Brothers, so I didn't immediately identify the songs as exclusively a Nintendo-esque VG soundtrack. That broadens it's accessibility to flash animations and games alike of the sci-fi or action variety. I could easily see this integrated into a flash project on the front page, so get to shamelessly self promoting yourself, dude! :D This earned a five, it's evident you worked hard on it.
"Pretty solid, dude. I've listened to it on loop several times, and the synthetic symphony sounds mostly flawless."
That's thanks to East/West's brilliant samples. I've only got the Silver version which is like their cheapest product and I still have access to such amazing sounds.

Hm... I don't exactly see what you mean. 1:20 is the same piano sound used from the whole song (taken from East/West too, and I tried varying the note velocities to make it sound real). It's a piano with some strings being played with it at the same time.
But hey, I'll look into it and see if anyone else thinks the same!

That's awesome, glad you were impressed! The original music isn't exactly action-packed, but the melodies are generally excellent which is why I enjoyed remixing them.

Dude, I'm SO GLAD you think the drums don't sound programmed, haha. I had that problem before in my other orchestral/rock song (the Chaoz Fantasy Orch/Rock Remix) and people did point it out, so I worked especially hard on making the drums sound more real here by varying the velocities, adding subtle changes and fills, and whatnot.

I'm not a fan of Metroid either (I never played any of the games)... in fact I only caught a glimpse of Samus in Brawl (and even then I don't enjoy playing as her xD). It's thanks to a friend of mine that I began hearing Metroid songs/remixes, enjoying them and eventually making this remix.

I'll be right on it! :D

I sure did. Thanks a lot for the review and the 5, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
"-RRC-"
Not forgetting the signature, I see. Nice work :P.
I know it's just a work in progress, but I'm still miffed that it abruptly ended at 44 seconds in, just when it was about to get good. When there was only TONS of possibilities for it to grow. I'd like to see how a full-fledged Trance track like this will turn out. That bass sounded great, but you know the full track will need more.
If it were me, I'd find a sexy british woman to sing about something eventually :P hope you have a more fitting, trance-like ending prepared for the final product. Voted 4, you'll have a 5 from me waiting for the full track. I like what little I've heard, give us more!
I do hate that it's so short at the moment. See, I'm debating on how many parts to make this in. I may just continue from where I left this off, beginning a much larger buildup into a much more powerful climax. But, I might also extend the bit where the bass came in. Decisions, decisions...
This is why I have all of you. :L
Thanks for the review!
EDIT: Come to think of it, it's actually sort of flattering to know that you were a bit annoyed by the abrupt ending - it shows that it left you wanting more. This could be incentive enough for me to finish it, for sure.
I'm going to go draw something right now. Holy SHIT this kicks so much ass...if, no, WHEN I do something original where I want the musical score to be exceptional, go nowhere. You're my guy.
Shit, just in case you stop frequenting NG by that time, gimme your email. Your talent is stellar!
Simply incredible production value. I'm happy I could listen to this before you have to delete it, you're certainly a heavy-hitting talent in the Audio Portal.
The piano sounds fantastic, and the instruments throughout the song that compliment it are of superior quality. I wish to learn how to compose scores of similar stature in the future...you made it your own, you're a total inspiration! :D
After a certain point I decided there was no need to remove it, but by the time I realized I should edit the description above to reflect that decision, the song had already reached 6000 listens and I couldn't edit it! Anyway, rest assured it's going nowhere. Here for all to listen/download.
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed.
I wish I could hear the rest of it; this completely kicks the original's ass! Keep thrashing, because after hearing this and "I Bleed Fire" I've become a fan of yours. :D
